Quote Management Software
Software for configuring products, pricing deals, and generating sales quotes and proposals — for companies where manual quoting is slowing down or breaking deals.
1 business
These businesses build the software that turns a sales conversation into an accurate, sendable quote. Concretely, that means tools that let a rep or a buyer pick product options and see valid combinations only (configuration), apply the right price and discount rules automatically (pricing and CPQ), and produce a proposal document that looks right, tracks whether it's been opened, and can be signed off without a chain of emails. Once this is in place, a quote that used to take a phone call to engineering and a few rounds of edits gets generated in minutes, with the price and configuration guaranteed correct.
People start looking into this when quoting has become a bottleneck or a liability. Maybe reps are building quotes in spreadsheets or old Word templates, and different reps quote the same product at different prices with no one noticing. Maybe the product has enough options and dependencies that only a couple of people in the company can configure it correctly, so every deal waits on their time. Maybe deals are being lost or delayed because a quote takes three days to turn around, or because nobody can see whether a prospect has even opened the proposal that was sent last week. Underneath all of these is the same thing: quoting logic and pricing knowledge live in people's heads or in files, not in a system, and it doesn't scale past a certain deal volume or product complexity.
The providers here split roughly by which part of that problem they attack first. Some focus on configuration — enforcing which combinations of options are valid, often with a visual or 3D view of what's being built, which matters most for manufacturers and anyone selling physical, highly configurable products. Others focus on pricing itself: setting guardrails, discount approval workflows, and price optimization so margin doesn't leak deal by deal. Others are mainly proposal and document tools — fast to set up, strong on design and e-signature and tracking, but with less enforcement of complex pricing rules. When comparing vendors, look at how deep the product configuration logic needs to go, whether it plugs cleanly into the CRM or ERP you already run on, whether pricing control or drafting speed is the more urgent problem, and how much implementation work each option actually requires before a rep can send a correct quote.
