These are the tools companies use to get a website, app or product into other languages and keep it that way as the source content keeps changing. In practice that means scanning or connecting to your site, app codebase or content system, pulling out every string of text, routing it to machine translation or human translators, and pushing the finished copy back into place — often with a visual editor so someone can see the translated page or screen before it goes live. The technical shift is that translation stops being a one-off export-and-email job and becomes a pipeline: new content gets detected automatically, translation memory reuses what's already been translated, and glossaries keep terminology consistent across every language and every future update.

People end up looking for this when a company is trying to sell into a new country and the process of getting there is a mess. Marketing has been copying page content into spreadsheets and emailing it to a freelance translator, then manually pasting it back in, and every time the English page changes, the other languages quietly fall out of date. Or a product team has strings hardcoded through the codebase with no central place to manage them, so adding a language means a developer combing through files. Either way, launches slip, terminology is inconsistent from one page to the next, nobody can say what a translation actually cost or how long it took, and marketing has no way to check what's live in a language they don't read.

Providers split mainly by where they plug in. Some are built for websites and work as a script or proxy layer that translates pages without touching your codebase — fast to set up, good for marketing sites, but limited for anything inside an app's logic. Others are built for product and software localization, extracting strings from your repository and integrating with your development workflow (Git, CI/CD) so translation becomes part of the release process rather than a side project. A third group is closer to enterprise translation management: less about the plumbing, more about running a translation operation across many vendors, languages and approval stages. When comparing them, look at how machine translation is handled (built-in engine versus your choice of provider), how translation memory and glossaries work in practice, whether human translators are bundled or you bring your own, how deep the developer integration goes, and whether pricing is per word, per language or per seat — that last point changes the economics a lot once you're covering more than a handful of markets.
