These are the places where job openings get posted and candidates go looking for work: platforms that let an employer list a role, search a database of resumes or profiles, and collect applications, while job seekers browse, filter and apply. Some are broad and cover every industry and level; others specialise, whether that's tech roles, hourly retail and warehouse shifts, trucking and logistics, or gig and contract work. A handful go further than posting and matching, gathering employee reviews and salary data that shape how a company is seen by candidates before it ever advertises anything.
People end up here because a role has been open too long, or the applicants coming in aren't the right ones. Maybe an internal referral pipeline has dried up, a niche skill set isn't showing up in generic searches, or frontline and hourly positions are churning faster than anyone can backfill them. Sometimes the problem isn't the job posting at all but the reputation behind it: candidates are checking reviews and pay ranges before applying, and a weak or absent employer presence is quietly costing applications the company never sees.
The providers here solve this in different ways, and the differences matter more than they look at first. Some are pay-per-post or subscription job boards where you're paying for visibility and reach; others work more like pay-per-click, charging per application or click and rewarding constant optimisation of the listing. Some layer in matching algorithms or resume database search so you can go find candidates rather than wait for them. A smaller group focuses on what happens after hire, surfacing frontline feedback and turnover risk rather than just filling the seat. What to compare: the volume and quality of applicants a channel actually delivers for your industry and seniority level, whether pricing is per post, per click or per hire, how well it integrates with your applicant tracking system, and whether you need broad reach or a niche audience that a generalist board simply doesn't have.
