After 35 years, balzac communications & marketing is closing its doors.
Since 1991, balzac has had a front-row seat to one of the most dynamic periods in American wine and spirits culture. Founded by the incomparable paul wagner, and carried forward under my watch for the past decade and a half, WE told the stories of some of the most compelling producers, importers, and brands in the business - with creativity, conviction, and more than a little style.
The industry is in a period of real reckoning. Shifting consumer habits and declining category sales have reshaped the landscape for everyone, agencies included. After careful consideration, I've decided to close balzac and move forward. Sometimes the most honest thing you can do is acknowledge when a chapter has ended.
To every client, colleague, journalist, and collaborator who trusted US over the years: thank you. Genuinely. This work was rewarding because of you.
