These tools handle the daily mechanics of running social accounts at scale: queuing and scheduling posts across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest and the rest from one calendar, routing comments and DMs into a shared inbox, pulling engagement and reach data into reports, and giving multiple people a way to draft, approve and publish content without passing screenshots around. Once this is in place, someone can plan a month of content in an afternoon, a client's brand manager can approve a post from their phone, and nobody is logging into six separate apps to see what went out and how it performed.
People start looking for this when social has outgrown what one person can manage by hand. Maybe posts are going out late or not at all because whoever normally does it is on leave. Maybe a marketing lead can't tell which platforms are actually driving anything, because the numbers live in four different native dashboards. A few specialise further, into social commerce and shoppable posts, into listening and sentiment analysis, into AI-assisted content generation, or into syndicating one piece of content across many branded accounts. When comparing them, look at which networks they actually support in full (not just claim to), how their approval workflow matches your team's structure, whether their analytics go deeper than vanity metrics or need exporting elsewhere, and how pricing scales as you add users, accounts or clients — that's usually where a tool that looked cheap at ten seats stops making sense at fifty.
