These firms are hired to configure, build and run Microsoft's Dynamics 365 stack for you: Sales and Customer Service modules, Business Central or the older NAV and AX systems, Power BI dashboards, Power Apps, and the Power Platform automation that sits between them. The actual work is things like mapping your sales or finance processes into the platform's data model, migrating records and history out of an old ERP or a spreadsheet-based CRM, writing custom workflows and integrations so Dynamics talks to your website, warehouse system or accounting package, and training staff to use it. When it's done properly, a sales team stops chasing deals through email threads, finance closes the books without reconciling three separate systems by hand, and management gets reporting that reflects what's actually happening rather than what someone remembered to update.
Most people land here because something in the business has outgrown its tools. A company running on spreadsheets or a basic CRM hits a point where nobody trusts the pipeline numbers, orders get missed, or finance can't produce a consolidated view across entities. Others are already on Dynamics but the original implementation was rushed, half-configured, or done by a partner who's no longer around, so reports are wrong, users work around the system instead of in it, or a planned rollout to another country or division has stalled. A common trigger is also a licensing or platform change from Microsoft itself — moving off Dynamics NAV or AX onto Business Central, for example — that forces a project nobody asked for.
Where these providers differ is mostly in depth versus breadth, and in how they're structured to deliver. Some are small, founder-led shops that specialise in one module — Business Central for manufacturers, say, or CRM for professional services — and do the implementation and support themselves; others are larger, multi-office firms that can staff a full ERP rollout across regions with dedicated project managers, developers and change-management people. A few lean heavily on Power BI and analytics as their differentiator, others on custom development and integrations, others on being cheap and fast for straightforward CRM setups. When comparing them, ask about their actual experience in your industry (a Dynamics build for a distributor looks nothing like one for a professional services firm), whether they own the relationship after go-live or hand you off to Microsoft support, how they price change requests once the contract is signed, and whether they've done a migration from your specific starting point — NAV, AX, Salesforce, or nothing at all.
