These businesses get hired to actually produce written content on a recurring basis: blog posts, website copy, product descriptions, articles, whitepapers, email sequences, ghostwritten thought-leadership pieces. You send a brief or a content calendar, and a writer (sometimes assigned, sometimes chosen from a pool) turns it into a finished draft, usually with an editor checking it before it reaches you. What actually separates them is worth checking before you commit: whether you get a consistent writer who learns your product and voice or a different one each time, how much editing happens before delivery versus how much lands back on you, whether pricing is per word (which rewards padding) or per piece, and whether SEO is baked into the process — keyword targeting, briefs built from search intent — or bolted on as an afterthought. Turnaround time and revision policy matter more in practice than most buyers expect going in.
