These are the vendors and agencies dealerships and dealer groups hire to turn inventory into showroom traffic and phone calls. The work is specific: syndicating vehicle listings to Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace and third-party sites as stock changes, building and updating VDPs and SRPs on a dealer website, running geo-targeted Google and paid social campaigns tied to actual VINs and trade-ins, mining the existing customer database for equity and service opportunities, chasing and posting Google and Facebook reviews, and feeding sales leads into a CRM that a BDC or sales team actually works. When it's done well, inventory advertises itself in near real time, leads get routed and followed up automatically instead of sitting in an inbox, and the dealer's online reputation and local search visibility hold up against every other rooftop selling the same make within twenty miles.

People end up looking for this when the current setup can't keep pace with the lot. Ads still show cars that sold last week, the website and the DMS don't talk to each other, leads go cold because nobody follows up past the third day, reviews are scattered and unanswered, and the general manager can't tell which campaigns actually sold a car versus which just generated clicks. Often it's staff turnover that exposes the gap — the one person who knew how to run Craigslist ads or chase equity leads leaves, and the process falls apart with them.

Providers split roughly into software you run yourself and agencies or managed services that run it for you, and most sit somewhere between the two. Compare them on whether they integrate directly with your DMS and existing CRM or expect you to re-enter data, whether campaigns update automatically from live inventory or need manual rebuilding, whether they're built for single-store dealers or multi-rooftop groups, and whether they specialise in new sales, used, service retention or reputation rather than trying to cover everything at once. Pricing models vary just as much — flat platform fees, per-lead charges, or a percentage of ad spend — and that choice affects incentives as much as cost.
